The fairy tale story about mice was performed together with Osvald Chlubna’s opera Alladina and Palomides, but in the very next performance the young composer’s ballet found itself in the company of the Brno master Janáček, when it was performed in one evening together with the opera The Cunning Little Vixen. The latter was premiered in Brno two months earlier, on 6 November 1924, and in 1965 it also opened the new building of the Janáček Theatre.
