Martinů in Rome
During three evenings, on May 26th, 27th, and 28th, the audience at Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome had the opportunity to hear compositions by Bohuslav Martinů. The Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Jakub Hrůša, performed the solemn composition Memorial to Lidice, H 296. Together with the outstanding violist Antoine Tamestit, they also presented the Rhapsody-Concerto for viola and orchestra, H 337, which Jakub Hrůša described as "one of the greatest works ever written for solo viola."
