Invitation to the NeoFolk Martinů concert
On Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 PM, there will be a Neofolk Martinů concert at the Antonín Dvořák Museum (National Museum) featuring the composer Bohuslav Martinů and his work inspired by Czech and Moravian folklore.
The same concert (with a slight change in the program) will take place on the following day, Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 5:00 PM at the Ludvík Kuba Gallery in Poděbrady and will conclude the 60th edition of the Poděbrady Poetry Days festival.
The NeoFolk Martinů concert will kick off the NeoMartinů 2023 project, which builds on the successful concert series NeoMartinů and NeoMartinů 2022 from previous years. The aim of the project is to introduce audiences to the comprehensive neoclassical work of Bohuslav Martinů.
The main part of the program will be Bohuslav Martinů's composition Nový Špalíček, set to Moravian folk poetry texts arranged by Jiří Teml, and the cycle of dances Les Rondes, which Martinů himself alternately referred to as Moravian or Czech dances. Some researchers also see the origin of inspiration in the music of Leoš Janáček.
