Romance for violin and piano in world premiere with Frank Peter Zimmermann
Romance for Violin and Piano, dating from 1930, was found by the musicologist Natálie Krátká in the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem. The world premiere will take place on 10th January in Wigmore Hall in London. The star performers are violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann and pianist Martin Helmchen. The piece was already performed by Petr Nouzovský and Martin Kasík in transcription for cello and piano on the benefit concert of B. Martinů Institute in Prague in November.
The composition was discovered in the estate of Boris Lipnitzki, Parisian photographer that took several pictures of the Martinů couple, including the wedding photo from 1931.
More about the concert on the Wigmore Hall website.
